We are Reformed

We are Reformed, meaning we subscribe to one of the Confessions of the Protestant Reformation: the Westminster Confession of Faith. We believe the Westminster Confession best represents the doctrinal understanding of the Holy Scriptures, and therefore shapes how we preach and teach.

We are Protestant

We believe and affirm the Five Solas of the Protestant Reformation, as well as the Doctrines of Grace, as taught at the Synod of Dort.

We are Catholic

When we say we are catholic, we mean that we boldly and heartily affirm the Creeds of the Ancient Church, which contain in them the basic definition of the historic, universal Christian Faith across time and place. To clarify further, we are not Roman Catholic - who have co-opted the term - but historic Christians. Therefore, all who hold to these Creeds, we also affirm as brothers in Christ.

We are Evangelical

This means that the Gospel (Good News) is central to who and what we are about. The Good News we proclaim is this: that Jesus has conquered sin and death by His death, burial, and resurrection. He now rules and reigns as King over Heaven and Earth, and He calls everyone to turn from their sin and submit to His Lordship. This is not Good News until we know why it is that. God made humanity perfectly, but the first humans chose to rebel against God and His Law. The result of this is the curse of death. But God did not leave us to flounder in death. He sent His Son to live the life we could not live (sinless), and died the death we should have died. It is not by willpower, self-determination, works, or natural generation, but by the Grace of God Alone, by faith in Jesus Alone. This Good News transforms individuals, families, churches, and whole cultures, not by might or power, but by the Holy Spirit's work alone. Therefore, this Good News drives our preaching, discipleship, hospitality, and our very lives, even in the public square. This Gospel fuels our zeal to not withdraw, but to engage our culture and society, being salt and light wherever God sends us, pointing all to Jesus.
